New Balance Men’s MR769 NBx Stability Running Shoe,White/Yellow,10.5 EE very nice walking shoes – Gene W. Lingenfelter – sacramento ca.
These are some of the best shoes I have ever walked in for long distances. I’ve had them for 3 or 4 month and use them all the time. I mostly use them on the treadmill. They are comfortable what more can I say!
This is a great shoe for combining lateral support with ample cushioning. I’m a 6′00″, 205lbs over pronator who had a tough time running in GT-2120’s because they are designed for a neutral gait. These shoes provide substantial stability in the heel area with an extra firm midsole which heavier runners will enjoy (less leg fatigue!). The heel height may be a bit much for some but I’m sure my frame will break it in nicely.
Fit: People have complained that this shoe runs a 1/2 size small. More likely, the issue is that the shoe is designed on a PL-1 last versus the wider SL-2 last that many runners are used to. The ‘last’ is basically the frame of the shoe that provides various shapes for different fits(straight, performance, racing, etc.)
The PL-1 last has a narrower toe area while SL-2 shoes(a popular design for older ND models) are wider in that area. I wear a D width, but I’d guess that wide-footed runners who got away with wearing a D in SL-2’s would probably need to go up in width to compensate for the more narrow designed PL-1’s.
More info about ‘lasts’ and how they correspond to each NB model at the New Balance website
Ultimately, these are a great shoe for those who need/want extra support in the heel. However, it may be worth a trip to a running store if you are unsure of which width is right for you. New Balance: The New Balance MR769 is a moderate stability trainer which features a TS2 medial post for smooth stability. Acteva midsole with D.T.S. in the heel and Abzorb in the forefoot area that provides a responsive and cushioned ride.
The New Balance MR769 is a stability shoe – Stability shoes are for runners who mildly overpronate (feet turning inward) and need extra support through the heel, midsole and post areas. Stability shoes will help reduce overpronation, which causes excessive foot motion and increases your risk of injury.
